Good news. The Health Care Committee of the City Council met on Monday, December 4 and unanimously voted to recommend a program on safe needle disposal in Worcester. The full council will vote on Operation Yellow Box this Tuesday, December 11.

It seems that the trip to see examples of needle disposal programs in Providence, Rhode Island and the information the Department of Public Health sent them did the trick. (Not to mention all of your support!) It was exciting to see Councilors Rushton, Rosen, and Smith really push this issue forward, in the face of Councilor Haller and Billy Breault's attempts to stall the issue with their many questions. Chief Gemme of the Worcester Police Department said he would even support a needle exchange program in Worcester!

Please, join us to demonstrate your support for safe needle disposal at the next full council meeting on Tuesday, December 11 at 7PM in the City Council Chambers at Worcester City Hall, 2nd floor. 455 Main Street. Let's make sure the Worcester City Council knows how important this issue is for Worcester!

Please, wear yellow or carry a sign to signify your support for Operation Yellow Box!

Thank you for your support!
