Bike the Lead Away
3:00pm, Thursday, May 3rd, meet at Stone Soup, 4 King Street
Bike Lead Away will feature music, puppets, and a Soil Testing Bike Ride to Spread Awareness about Lead in Soil. Local youth and the Toxic Soil Busters Co-op will be teaming up with a band of traveling puppeteers riding through the inner city testing local yards and gardens for lead.
We will be starting at the Stone Soup Community Center at 4 King St. and ending at the YouthGROW farm at 67 Oread St. We are biking for a lead free future.
Some ask why make a big fuss about riding around the city digging in dirt? “Why all the fuss?!†says Melanny Dominguez (age 15) “ Because lead is a serious health concern in Worcester especially in Main South. Our expectations of this event is to hopefully educate members of our community who are unaware of the harm that lead can cause to kids.†We expect that our unique and creative activity will satisfy our purpose to educate members of our community.
No bike needed, but bring yours if you'd like!
