The ARTichoke Food Co-op is a 150 member (and growing) retail food cooperative. We have been operating at 800 Main Street in Worcester's Main South neighborhood since 2001. We are entirely volunteer staffed. We sell organic and healthy food, as well as artwork, crafts and books to members and non-members alike. The idea at the heart of the co-op is socially responsible consumption. A socially responsible co-op shopper cares how goods are produced, how goods are distributed, and how these good impact the environment and people here in Worcester and in other parts of the world. Through the co-op we will serve our long-term interests in a healthier environment and a more just society, while meeting practical needs for healthy food. We will practice economic cooperation through which we strengthen the position of our co-op and other co-ops in the local, national and global economies to build the cooperative movement.
