Founded in 1982, Agape is a lay Catholic intentional community. We are located on 32 acres of land near the Quabbin Reservoir. We are ecumenical and interfaith in outreach and membership. The active dimension of our lives consists of an educational ministry in nonviolence including retreat work with college students and other groups, hospitality, prison outreach, liturgies and conferences on prayer and nonviolent lifestyle. As Christians we are inspired to practice nonviolence more authentically by living a more ecological sound and sustainable life. We set aside a part of each day for silence and prayer, and yet remain active in the press of the world, investing energy in local, regional and global concerns, including speaking out against war, the death penalty and other forms of institutional violence.
