Urban Garden Resources of Worcester, better known as UGROW, is a grassroots, city-wide community gardens program. UGROW believes we have the capacity to address issues of community food security and maldistribution of resources through growing food in our own communities. We work to pose an alternative to fossil-fueled, corporate agriculture. The REC currently supports 25 existing gardens composed of over 250 gardeners, and has been supporting gardens for 13 years. Throughout the years, the REC has helped residents to find space for gardening and provided groups with compost, soil testing, organic seedlings & seeds, and technical assistance. Our work with community gardens helps to connect neighbors and people of all ages. The UGROW program involves neighborhood groups, schools, youth, senior citizens, and artists.
